Mike Buchheit is director of the Grand Canyon Field Institute, a professional landscape photographer and instructor, freelance travel writer, and a popular lecturer on a wide variety of Grand Canyon-related topics. As a twelve-year resident, 3,000-mile hiker, and frequent river runner, the Iowa native has gained an intimate knowledge of the park that he calls home. Christa Sadler (geologist, author, river runner, and Grand Canyon Field Institute instructor extraordinaire) discusses Geology in terms that are easy to understand and make the rocks come alive before your very eyes. Her enthusiasm and love for the Grand Canyon will increase your appreciation a hundred-fold, whether you are hiking or simply gazing down into the depths from the rim.

Michael F. Anderson, Ph.D., earned his doctoral degree in history from Northern Arizona University in 1999. He has been a researcher and writer of canyon history since 1990, a teacher and guide for the Grand Canyon Field Institute since 1993, and Grand Canyon National Park's trails archeologist and cultural resource specialist since 2001. In Human History, Mike provides a excellent synopsis of the park's history before and after it became a national park. Starting with the ancient Anasazi and continuing through the present, you'll see that people are as much a part of the Grand Canyon as are its rocks.

Sally Underwood, another superb Grand Canyon Field Institute instructor, contributes articles on the fauna of Grand Canyon. As a veterinarian, her insights into the wildlife of the local region bring new appreciation for some of the animals you might be lucky enough to see during your visit. Sally contributed most of the articles on the Wildlife of Grand Canyon.

Dr. Tom Myers, long-time Grand Canyon physician, hiker, river runner, and author of Over the Edge: Death in Grand Canyon, writes our article on River Trip Safety. Many of his tips are useful for any activity you might engage in at the canyon, whether it is river running, hiking or taking a mule to the bottom.

Mike Quinn's Photographic Exploration - Mike Quinn, Grand Canyon National Park Service photographer, has put a fabulous web site up that includes MANY historic and contemporary photographs, as well as some wonderful articles from the Grand Canyon museum archives. Wayne Ranney - Wayne is an instructor for the Grand Canyon Field Institue as well as for some other highly respected organizations. As a geologist, author, instructor, and guide with a great sense of humor, Wayne makes trips loads of fun! He leads trips throughout the world, although he is truly gifted in sharing his knowledge and passion of the Southwest. Bruce A. Aiken, Fine Art - Painter Bruce Aiken has lived and worked at Roaring Springs in the bottom of the Grand Canyon since 1973. He has appeared on TV many times, including Good Morning America with Joan Lunden, CBS 48 Hours and Disney cable net Epcot Magazine. He has been featured in such publications as People Magazine, Southwest Art Magazine and Arizona Highways Magazine. Bruce has recently retired from the National Park Service but has a studio in Flagstaff.
