Geodesic Dome Tents

Here are just a couple of the choices to be found in dome tents. Notice that they are all free-standing, but the number of poles can vary from two to four; four being the strongest but also the heaviest.

Most heavy duty mountaineering tents have at least four poles. This helps shed show and prevents having the tent collapse on you! It also withstands the strongest wind as the dome shape guides the wind around the tent instead of slamming into the side with its full force.
