A tradition since 1935, Easter Sunrise Service this coming Sunday promises to be even more magical – if that is possible.
Imagine standing at the South Rim’s Mather Point looking into the depths of the canyon. The air is chilled; there is probably a breeze which makes you draw your jacket closer. The horizon lightens with the promise of warmth from the sun which will soon break over the horizon.
That is pure magic all by itself, but then something arises that sounds like it’s coming from heaven. Beautiful voices emerge and greet the morning in a way that will certainly bring more goosebumps than those just from the cold. The vocals of the 35-member chamber choir will provide an accompaniment to the interdenominational worship service that will not soon be forgotten.
The award winning Maynooth University Chamber Choir from Maynooth, Ireland, will be performing at the 2016 Sunrise Service this Sunday, March 27th. The Maynooth University Chamber Choir made history last July when it became the first Irish choir to win the Pavarotti Trophy as “Choir of the World” at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales.
