This past Sunday, visitors clustered along the South Rim to enjoy a rousing display of lightning and rainbows; likely the final boisterous storm of the monsoon season. With the close of the summer rains, the transition to autumn has officially begun. Family vacations are succumbing to school schedules, and both temperatures and park visitation numbers are trending lower.
The crisp air and shorter days also signal the coming of a few perennial favorite public events at Grand Canyon National Park, including the final performances of the Grand Canyon Music Festival (September 7 & 8), and the 10th annual Celebration of Art plein air painting festival (September 8-13). It’s hard to imagine a more wonderful segue into the holiday season than combining the Canyon’s stellar views with these inspiring art traditions.
