From painters and photographers to yodelers and folklorists, Grand Canyon National Park has played host to artists of all stripes since 2003 as part of its Artist-in-Residence (AiR) program. The multi-week visits are designed to allow the artists to draw inspiration for their work from the park’s iconic views, intriguing people, and unique flora and fauna. They share their impressions with park visitors by way of a scheduled program as well as donating a piece of art for the park’s permanent collection.
The artists, who hail from across the country and beyond our borders, are in year-round rotation on the South Rim, and seasonally on the North Rim. The AiR program joins the Grand Canyon Association’s annual Celebration of the Arts and the longstanding Grand Canyon Music Festival as high-quality art events befitting a World Heritage Site.
