What began as a mechanism to highlight environmental causes nationwide, Earth Day has grown into an international celebration of the planet we all share. Originally conceived by Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson, a staunch defender of the natural world, the tradition marks its 42nd “birthday” on April 22, 2012. Grand Canyon National Park will be doing its part with a number of ranger-led games, activities, and programs at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center near Mather Point.
All events are free and open to the public. Follow this link for more information, and don’t miss this opportunity to honor your planet while surrounded by one of its natural wonders!
