The Grand Canyon Association, for which this writer has served as Director of the Field Institute for two decades, recently changed its name to Grand Canyon Conservancy (GCC). The change was made to better reflect the growing number of ways that GCC is helping the National Park Service with its mandate to protect and preserve Grand Canyon National Park.
The Field Institute contributes to GCC’s critical mission by providing deep-dive learning adventures throughout the park, drawing inspiration from the famous quote by Baba Dioum, “In the end, we will conserve only what we love; we will love only what we understand and we will understand only what we are taught.”
Park visitors of all ages and interests can find something that will inspire and illuminate among the Field Institute’s wide-ranging classes. On behalf of my staff, I’d like to invite you to visit our website and see what we have available for you and yours. Registration for 2019 classes began last week, and many are filling quickly.
Don’t miss your opportunity to learn about the grandest of chasms from the experts. And thanks for indulging me with a not-quite shameless plug for a program that I hold near and dear. www.grandcanyon.org/fieldinstitute.
