About an hour south of the South Rim on Hwy 180 on the way to Flagstaff, the Arizona Nordic Village (formerly the Flagstaff Nordic Center) offers some nice “camping” options in the form of large and small yurts and camping cabins. They are rustic but comfortable, have wood stoves, access to restrooms/coin-operated showers 24 hours a day, and are in a wonderful Ponderosa pine forest setting. You can find more about them and make reservations on their site.
