For the more adventurous travelers, the Arizona Nordic Village offers some nice but more primitive options in the form of large and small yurts and camping cabins. Located about an hour south of the Grand Canyon’s South Rim and a half-hour north of Flagstaff, they are conveniently located for activities throughout northern Arizona, including Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, and Sedona. They are rustic but comfortable, have wood stoves, access to restrooms/coin-operated showers 24 hours a day, and are in a wonderful Ponderosa pine forest setting. You can find more about them and make reservations on their site.
